When I woke up in the morning, I was shocked to receive Damaged SD card error message "SD card is damaged, Try reformatting it." and when I made an attempt to share some pictures on my phone through instagram. As I clicked in, my phone reminded me that "Format SD card? All data on your card will be lost". But I refuse to format the card because there were so many important files which included my images, movies, and hundreds of my documents.
"Is there any reliable damaged SD card recovery solution that I can use to fix the damaged SD card error without format because my files that are in it are very precious to me". This was the thought lingering in my head all through that morning.
Having a corrupt SD card or having your good SD card all of a sudden becoming inaccessible is something nobody wishes to experience. HOW TO USE CHKSDK TO FIX A DAMAGED SD CARD WITHOUT DATA LOSS.
The "chkdsk" command is the first choice for damaged SD card recovery. It requires no format, it also allows you to repair a corrupted SD card without encountering data loss.
Below are the required steps needed in repairing a corrupt SD card using CHKSDK.
1. First, Plug in your SD card to your computer via a card reader.
2. Next, Go to the start menu, type in "cmd" (command prompt)in the search bar below, select enter and then a program named "cmd. exe" will appear under a list of programs.
3. Then, right click "cmd. exe" and you will get the following command windows which allows you to fix your corrupted SD card without formatting it.
4. Type in "chkdsk /X /f sd card letter:" or "chkdsk sd card letter: /f ", for example,"chkdsk /X /f G:" or "chkdsk h: /f".
When you are done with the steps above, Windows will check and fix the file system of the SD card. It usually takes several minutes so you have to be patient.
After that, if you see "Windows has made corrections to the file system" in the command window, then Bravo! your damaged SD card has been fixed successfully and you can access your data which are in it. But if it doesn't, then i suggest you try a third-party data recovery software to fix the damaged/corrupted SD card and get back your data efficiently.
