According to Olivier Monbet the leader of Bridgestone's technical department for France and Benelux, he said "Why mess with the proven design of tires? Of course, there's no such thing as a flat tire, but the main reason is to improve recyclability compared to conventional tires".
"Every part of the tire can be recycled" Monbet Added, which makes it the best replacement for conventional tires.
Although Bridgestone might be a fore runner in the air-free tire innovvation, they are not the only ones with the intention of making tires.
The Britek Tire has its Energy Return Wheel for bicycles and military vehicles, the Michelin Tweel is suited for loaders, a type of construction vehicle and also the Hankook i-Flex is designed for passenger cars.
"The next thing on the list is to manage horizontal solidness. At this moment it's too hardened, which isn't great when the driver steers" he said.
"That issue ought to be tended to with new models which will bed finished in two to four years time. Bridgestone wants to start testing them within a year on little Toyota single-traveller electric vehicles that run in Tokyo", he said.
"At the point when the elastic piece of the tire destroys, another one can be fitted by warming it up and slipping it on", Monbet added.
Monbet concluded by saying "It's too early to talk about the price. the cost will diminish as we increment production.
I think it's a nice concept and can't wait to get mine. What about you?
